Nour El Sherbini started making history before she was a teenager. At just 13 years old she became the youngest World Junior Champion in the sport’s history — a marker of things to come. By 16 she’d reached world No. 7, and in 2016, at 20, she took the world No. 1 ranking for the first time. She has now held it for a career total of 277 weeks, longer than almost anyone who has ever picked up a racket.
Between 2018 and 2023 she won five World Championships in a row — a run of dominance the women’s game had never seen. After a rare defeat in the 2024 final, she came back in 2025 to win her eighth World Championship title, equalling the all-time record held by Malaysian legend Nicol David. It was her tenth consecutive World Championship final. No one, male or female, has ever reached that many finals in a row.
She’s currently ranked world No. 2 after a hard-fought loss in the 2026 final — and with 45 PSA titles and a career built on returning stronger after every setback, the ninth title, the one that would make her the outright record holder, is very much still in front of her.
